  • Description:
    A Spanish research institute specialised in plastics and composite materials with a wide expertise, design assistance and consulting to compounding manufacturers and the resins related industries and research institutes, willing to develop highly biodegradable polymer blends based in novel biobased materials such as polybutylene succinate, polybutylene adipate and polyhydroxybutyrate. These novel biopolymers are highly interesting due to their high biodegradation rates. However, they exhibit some deficiencies in their performance for particular applications that can be tailored through polymer blending. The research department has experience in compounding and development of biodegradable formulations for 3D printing. Now, the interest is focus on new highly biodegradable formulations to be used in injection moulded pieces.

    For this the research institute is looking for commercial grades of the following biodegradable polymers such as: polybutylene adipate (PBA), polybutylene succinate (PBS), Polybutylene succinate adipate copolymer (PBSA), etc.

    The research centre is interested in manufacturing agreements to develop new compounding strategies and technological approaches that will be of interest for international suppliers. In this way, commercial collaboration can be stablished.

    The centre is interested in the acquisition of this specific materials and to know the new possibilities, results of researches by a manufacturing agreement.

    The research department is interested in development of highly degradable biomaterials through polymer blend compounding that can be used in injection moulded pieces. For this reason the center searches the following commercial grades biodegradable polymers:
    • Polybutylene succinate (PBS)
    • Polybutylene adipate (PBA)
    • Polybutylene succinate adipate copolymer (PBSA)
    • Polyhydroxybutyrate valerate copolymer (PHBV)

    It is desirable that the materials have a biodegradable label certificate, although not compulsory, in case of not having these requirements, we are also interested in pelletized polymers without certificates and with properties similar to those aforementioned. Particularly, in the high biodegradation properties.

    Among the biodegradable polymers, other biopolymers such as polylactic acid, polycaprolactone, etc, will not be suitable for the agreement.

    The research center is interested in manufacture companies of biodegradable polymers in order to buy these products.
