    A German R&D performing SME is preparing a European joint R&D proposal under the Eurostars program. The project is about creating an active loudspeaker that can compensate the nonlinear distortions in real-time. They are looking for one or two partners from SMEs that have expertise in producing loudspeakers and/or movement sensors. The proposal should be submitted by the end of August 2016 for the EUREKA EUROSTARS deadline (15 September 2016).
  • Description:
    An ideal loudspeaker produces acoustic waves, which are a linear transformation of the input signal. But in reality loudspeakers have inherent nonlinearities generating distortion in the output signal. This distortion is perceived by human ears, introducing a real degradation of the sound fidelity. A German SME has developed a unique solution to compensate the nonlinear distortions in real-time, based on a self-learning algorithm and a motional sensor system. Targeted end-users of the product are consumers who prefer high-fidelity loudspeakers as well as any sellers of high-fidelity loudspeakers and/or industries that include those in their products (e.g. high-end automotive). Partners are sought from SMEs that have expertise in producing loudspeakers and/or movement sensors. The German SME will be the coordinator of the project, a university is already involved and has done preliminary studies that validated the approach. The proposal should be submitted by the end of August 2016 for the EUREKA EUROSTARS deadline (15 September 2016). The expected duration of the project is 24-36 months. EoIs are welcome until August 5th, 2016. The project is expected to start at the beginning of 2017.
