Business profile

  • Description:
Earthquakes are natural causes of disaster that are impossible to forecast in advance, nor in the area that would be affected by. Japan is located in a part of the Asia-Pacific area prone to earthquakes and has built up expertise for safety goods related to earthquakes.

Motivated by the experience from previous earthquake disasters, the Japanese company successfully developed a seismic shock absorber gel pad aiming to minimise damages to household belongings.

Though the product is originally developed to avoid overturning of household belongings caused by the shockwaves of an earthquake, they recently noticed it could be used for interior of boats and other vehicles involving shaking while in motion. It can also be used to protect mobile phones or other mobile devices from drop impacts, and showed effectiveness with regard to in-house/domestic safety for baby-proofing.

The gel pad is therefore flexibly used in the aspect of disaster prevention and protection of household or personal belongings such as: personal computers, GPS tools, fish-finders, monitors, dishware, electrical appliances etc. Moreover it could be used at a manufacturing site to protect precision machines.

Their product has reliable quality that complies with safety standards. Various tests by a public certification body were conducted to measure the product’s performance in viscosity and earthquake resistance. Moreover, it meets the uniformed certification system standards to participate for project bids to national/local government and related bodies.

The Japanese company is looking for a partner in Europe who will be supporting them in developing sales channels in the EU market as a distributor. Ideally, the potential partner will introduce new method of use of their shock absorber.

More information

  • Plus Value:
The company's pad is made from gel that incorporates characteristics of both solids and liquids. Its function of adherence and flexibility works to absorb various types of shock – earthquake, rolling and pitching.

Its expected durability of adherence is for 5-7 years with temperature adaptation between -20°C and 70°C. The value are much more superior comparing with similar products in the market which provides less durability and that might be melting at 30°C or above during summer.

Its thickness of 5 mm would not be impairing appearance of household belongings or furniture while in use.

The product is also eco-friendly without negatively affecting to environment.

It is easy to use by simply placing the pad under the item since it is not necessary gluing it to the item.
When it becomes necessary to remove the pad, just simply peel it off. It is reusable by washing with water.

The company conducted a vibration proof test at the testing laboratory in Japan and the result certifies that the absorber is strong enough towards the impact of 1,000 gals of earthquake comparing with 818 gals that was officially observed during the Kobe area’s earthquake in 1995.
